China’s Great Wall is estimated to be around 4,500 miles long (that is 18 percent of the Earth’s circumference at the Equator), with a main line of approximately 2,500 miles, the remaining length being accounted for by spurs. It took more than 2,000 years to construct and the main part of the wall dates from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It is 30 feet high in places and the top is wide enough to drive on in parts!
