Going into hospital, whether planned or as an emergency, can be an anxious time for anyone but careful planning and making sure that those who care for you are well informed about Parkinson’s and your needs, can help enormously.
Managing your medication is a very important aspect of your time in hospital, particularly as the hospital routine may be different from what you are used to, and it is possible that you will be cared for by people who are not familiar with Parkinson’s.
There are also practical aspects that need to be considered, such as mobility, communication, bowel and bladder function, and diet.
Planning ahead for such aspects of your stay can play a significant role in your quality of life whilst in hospital and can also improve your recovery time.
