Glucocerebrosidase mutations confer a greater risk of dementia during Parkinson's disease course
Study findings suggest that mutations in the glucocerebrosidase gene not only increase the risk of both Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia but also strongly influence the course of Parkinson's disease with respect to the appearance of dementia.

Dementia associated with Parkinson's disease: Applying the Movement Disorder Society Task Force criteria
Findings suggest that the MDS-TF criteria are more sensitive than the DSM-IV for a diagnosis of PDD. Old age, absence of psychiatric symptoms, and severe motor impairment can hinder the diagnosis of PDD.

Parkinson's disease dementia can be easily detected in routine clinical practice
With an easy-to-use, short battery of tests that are commonly used in routine clinical practice, it is possible to diagnose PDD in accordance with reference criteria and with the same sensitivity and specificity as in a more extensive evaluation.
