With the exception of
a report of a slight improvement in patients who have received deep brain
stimulation1 there is
currently no medication that has been shown to regain losses in the sense of
smell in Parkinson’s. The authors of the report believe that the small
improvement is probably because the stimulation affects the cognitive processing
of information to do with smell.
